Background

Background

HeyTaco is an app for Slack and Microsoft Teams that promotes employee recognition by allowing teammates to send each other “tacos” as kudos, strengthening peer-to-peer connection. I’ve worked freelance with HeyTaco since May, previously conducting a UX audit for their site.

They reached out to me for a new project: Tacograms, a free and fun way to send a personal shoutout to someone, big or small! As a UX and Full-Stack dev, I led the end-to-end process, including ideating, designing, researching, coding, testing, and delivery under guidance of Una, Doug, and James

Conclusion

Conclusion

Conclusion

I am incredibly glad with how Tacograms panned out and I genuinely learned a lot both creatively and technically. Nurturing a product from idea to launch while balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and business goals proved to be very rewarding challenge for me. I am happy to contribute to HeyTaco's brand and am grateful for the help I received along the way from the people there.

With a lot of autonomy, this project strengthened my ability to take initiative like a product owner and showed me how thoughtful design paired with smooth and intentional development can turn a single idea into a meaningful, user-driven experience.

Conclusion

In addition to the many other side projects I participated in, from User Acceptance Testing on other apps to mocking up one-off designs that have been published live, I received invaluable experience on how to present and communicate closely with stakeholders in order to devise compromises. I was fortunate to be given a larger role in a long-term project's infancy phase, and I am glad to have contributed during my internship.
